How dare you. You smug, self-important windbag. It's people like you who generate healthy debate in this country. You think our Founding Fathers actually intended us to freely air our opinions without fear of persecution or prosecution? I actually think they hoped we'd end up gunning each other down in the street, making governing that much easier.

Seriously, its good to hear someone expressing their opinion without attacking someone else (much).

Oh, yeah, and by the way, the 30th Anniversary Show today is another monster that should be enjoyed by all. An earlier commment referred to the series of three shows culminating with today's show from 30 years ago make up "The Holy Trinity" of Dead shows. Many will agree with this, many will not. Taken individually, perhaps one can point to other shows as superior, but it is difficult to find a series of three consecutive shows, take as a whole, that can stand up to this trifecta. Listening to these shows just puts that permagrin back on my face and reminds me why this is the best band in the land. So lets put down the arrows and barbs for a little while, long enough to find the common ground that is the Dead and take some time to let the music do the talking.

ahhh...so true! unless it's my point of view ;)

Remember: The 7 Commandments are abridged for the last time, simply reading, "All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others."

Hijack my thread back to the dead, would'ja?

Fine. Keep writing. I always yawn when I'm interested.

As my desert cousins would say: "May a quartet of lice infested Teletubbies dial 1-800-'Ride my pony' a hundred times and tie the phone on your bedpost with purple duct tape while wizzing on your dog's legs."

Infidel.

"lice infested Teletubbies"? Maybe the best line your oft-maligned intellect (and rightly so) has produced.

So, at last, you admit I have intellect. Now, stop insulting it with your mindless retorts. As to you, sir Hollow, you make it clear that you are as bright as a full moon shrouded by coulds.

'a full moon shrouded by coulds'

How poetic, Sir Pig. A night time sky redolent of maybes, and unrealised potential and possibilities.

I merely say this so the rest of those mugs don't think you mis-typed something.

Best typo I've made in a while; though it should have read couldn'ts.

As to you, sir, I would ask:

Shall we go, you and I while we can? Through the transitive nightfall of intransitive verbs?

Sir, my evening sky is anything but redolent of maybes. Instead I see it more as reminiscent of effusive perhaps.

I think this covers all of the venom, stupidity, ignorance, holier-than-thou-ness, as well as the well thought out, clever, intelligent arguements here on this forum. Whether they be about religionpolitic (yes, they are much the same), the Grateful Dead (or any other band), sports, etc.

Comes A Time,
when the blind man, takes your hand
and says "don't you see?"
gotta make it somehow, on the dreams
you still believe.
Don't give it up,
you've got an empty cup
ONLY LOVE CAN FILL

5/9/77 was as special a show as 5/8---give BOTH a whirl today & see why dontcha?

LOVE, people, the world--and US--is missing a good bit of it.

damn - i've got to pull that one out again for that peggy-o (one of my favorite tunes) - haven't listened to 5/9 in awhile

been hooked on the peggy from 3/26/88 (of all years) that dancin' was kind enough to send me - just phenomenal and soulful with a beauty of midjam. can't get enough of it

let me know how it is after you get a chance to hear it :)
if it sounds good - let me know where you got it from, assuming your feeble mind can remember ;)

Hey Dire. I gave that Zero with Garcia a listen this morning - just so so. It's an aud, not bad sound but not a lot of things stand out in the mix. For instance you can't hardly make out Cipollina ( maybe he wasn't hardly playing I don't know ), nor is there much interplay between Jerry and Steve. But Fierro you can hear more and his playing kinda sort of can make me wince. The Goodnight Irene is really cool though.

hey man - thank your for that review!! now that you mentioned it, i do kinda remember not too much interplay between those two. that is a shame - I can just imagine the magical weavings Garcia and Kimock could have created.

thanks again johnny

Blue Devil - I like the 5/9 first set a million times more thats for sure but the second set I mioht have to give the edge to 5/8. Definately great Comes a Time ( and Uncle Johns too ) but the Other One I don't find that special, But I'm not a huge Other One fan so I'm probably biased there.

NO, want to make something of it?

Here's why - I like the 68-69 Fiery ones, and I like the 73-74 ones but the latter goes off into space and isn't the same theme over and over again. After that the theme, to me, is somewhat repititious and uninspired.

Ok people - flame away!

I like TOO because it's less a song and more of a transitional piece...a stepping stone from point A to point B. What an exciting way to travel in time....

I think it was Queen Latifah that said..."who you callin' a beeatch?!"

yeah but to me the theme is often too repetitive. I'd rather go out there with a Dark Star or a Playin. IMHO I think post Dark Star - Playin was THE vehicle/springboard for exploration bar none.

Lets just hope Dire isn't reading this as I don't think he ever really figured out that WE, singlehandedly, did IT to the Pats. Proving forever the power of GROKKING...
